Snarls filled the den and echoed about, sound waves bouncing every which way till they finally got caught in a crevice of the den. He spotted Rovea leap and rage filled him, he thought he could handle Toapa, but Toapa and a brute might kill him. Snarling, he opened his jaws wide and caught Rovea by the throat. Shaking dramatically he felt the jugular rip and watched Rovea crumple down into a heap on the earth. Feeling the blood in his mouth gave him a bit more strength as he stood to face Toapa, feeling her slash her claws across his right eye. A snarl escaped him as he fell to the earth and his head slammed against a stray rock that had been too hard for either Rook or Jaero to move out of the way. His blood covered muzzle hit the ground hard and he yelped, but was unable to move. He was going into shock and was quite afraid he was going to die.

Never! He could not die and leave Rook. Willing himself to move he finally staggered toward where Rook was pacing and he nuzzled her gently before he fell to the earth in a heap and didn't move. He stared on, unable to move as his paws occasionally twitched uncontrollably. He stared at his offspring and cursed himself for not being able to get up and fight. His mind raced as he stared at the evil face of Toapa. No longer was any of her members to come anywhere near their territory, even if accident they would be slaves of Soko, or they would die. Toapa had made a name for herself now, and she would die eventually, under the tooth and claw of Jaero and Rook. Growls escaped his throat until he was silent, everything went black as he laid down and ceaced all sounds and movement.

[[Ooc: I got permission to powerplay the killing of Rovea.]]

Rook was beside herself. Pacing had freed up her tired muscles, bringing the blood to them once again. With the fighting above ground ensuing, the mother kept her eyes peeled through the entrance. Now and then the shadows would fall over the entrance, and now that Jae had bounded off a fraction from the opening, the bodies of their foes where becoming more persistent. Toapa's words, Jaero's pleas both verbal and not, and the shouts of Crow's threats filled the air around her, making her dizzy. Why was this happening? Why now? With Meso, she could have raised her pups in peace. While he had been a bastard, he'd never be one to lead an attack. Or would he? If he had remained in power, how would her life be different?

A sudden cry broke her thoughts.

It came from above, from where she couldn't get to.

Unless she left her pups for a second...

Only a second.. Just one second. Just to see. That couldn't hurt.

No. A sudden welling of anger shook through her. Damn this, damn her. If only she'd kept her body away from the male. If only she had held her dignity and power above all else. She was the alpha, the first real founder after her father died. Yet, she's hiding in a hole. She should be out there fighting. She should be out there defending her pack with her life.

But wasn't she.. Just by staying there?

Glancing at her pups, her frustrated eyes softened. This was her pack. Unlike the others above, her children weren't able to defend themselves. She was needed after all, right here in this den. Calmed for the moment, Rook hated herself for what had spilled from her brain. They clouded her thinking, made her heartless to the four who lay curled in fear of the loud sounds and dirt spray that fell from the roof. This was her family, and they were hers to defend.

THUD

The walls suddenly let loose a shower of dust as Rook blinked her blue eyes. Her fangs prepared for the strike in the tiny room of the den, Rook felt her body wobble. "JAERO! NO!" Desperation set in and sent the female forward so that her body nearly lay upon her injured mate. Watching him as his eyes closed, she prayed silently to hear his voice. He wasn't dead, she could feel his labored breathing against her coat. Her frantic heart pounded in her own chest as her jaws latched onto his scruff, pulling him closer to the base of the den. All she thought of was to get him away from Toapa's fangs. To bring him into her shelter with their pups. The family would be reunited. The gap began to get larger, allowing more light into the entrance. The shadows became more present, and she knew in the back of her mind that she was opening them up. The den was now public for the hole was not as bared as before. Unknowingly, and for her family, Rook condemned them all.

Many wolves of the past had told Toapa that she was a horrid leader, and didn’t know what she was doing. Well, they were probably correct. But do you think that Toapa cared? No! No she didn’t. Toapa knew she had made many mistakes in life, and that she was going to make many more in the future. Perhaps she was even making a big one now. But Toapa had her reasons. How ever foolish and childish they may seem Toapa never acts without a reason. She was a leader who at times could act rationally, but once again she had her reasons. She was hard headed, and didn’t want a male by her side. A fear of them you could say. And because of this, she is the sole leader who has all of the responsibility laid on her shoulders. It’s not normal for there to be one alpha in a pack. Toapa knew that, but to be clear, she isn’t exactly normal herself. She is just a wolf who is confused, and is over loaded with stress. Spring was the main reason, and she understood that. Spring was the time of love, and love sprouted all around her. But never with her. It was the season of hate and deceit as well. A wolf would tell you that they love you; then turn right around and make love to another. It was a never ended circle, and Toapa didn’t want to be apart of it, but at the same time longed to be caught in the tangled webs.

Letting out a sigh Toapa continued to stray in the shadows of the cave, slowly moving around Jaero, Khaz, and Rovea. How her half brother found her was a sheer blessing and a curse all wrapped in one. If one relative was around … that meant many more would follow. She wasn’t fond of her brothers, and never really would be. Rovea was the only one she had ever slightly trusted, and look at him now. Bleeding on the ground, taking his last few breathes in life. It was a shame too, to loose someone who had just entered in your life. Much like Rook and pups. Toapa’s defensive immediately rose as she lashed out to Jaero. He hit the ground, and much to Toapa’s surprise was out of the game. A satisfied grin was painted across her, as she turned around to continue to trek further into the small dainty den. Her eyes had fully adjusted to the new light and her senses were on full alert. She was aware that Raven was somewhere close by, and that a Soko wolf was amidst them somewhere. Rose or something of the sorts? She was the one who had distracted Errayn.

Finally coming across the pups, the dark queen smirked greedily to herself. Which one to pick? She had no pups of her own, and an heir would be needed. So which one? Hmm. sniffing each pup, she singled out the one that she thought was the best. Picking the bundle up, Toapa made sure to use great care. For once in her life, she held something as if she really cared about it. The young pup whined slightly, making noises as she carried it through the dark light. Her name was to be Kafa, but Toapa would quickly change that. We can’t have any reminder of her birth mother. None of that foolish nonsense. A low growl was emitted from Toapa as she gave Raven silent commands. It was just a growl giving off the okay to slaughter which ever pup she choose. Toapa didn’t have the nerve to it herself right now. After all, how would she explain to her new pup that she killed her sibling? Yeah, that wouldn’t sound too good. Toapa knew she was taking a big risk, because there was always the chance that this bundle of joy would find out the truth. But there was always time to think about that later. Lies would be formed at a better time.

Speeding her pace up now, the alpha darted out of the cave. She had given her pack commands to continue to fight, until the alpha was completely out of sight. Let’s see how many actually went with that. Toapa’s eyes glimmered with pride as she pushed her way past Crow and Desperado. Unluckily though, Hurricane Rose was on her tail. She grabbed the alpha’s back leg and as she did, Toapa found herself sprawled out on the ground. The pup was still in her mouth as she growled lowly to the female. “Let me go,” she mumbled though clenched teeth now. The pup squealed lightly as Toapa bite into her. Toapa hadn’t meant to do it, but in her fall she’d closed her mouth more than she had intended. What a poor mother she was going to turn out to be. Freeing her leg from the others mouth, Toapa glared at her and then turned around once more. She knew the female wasn’t going to give up that easily, which is why she tore out of there. But the other would probably follow …

OOC: Sorry Rose, I couldn't post the whole thing that we planned in PM's. I didn't want to powerplay the whole thing. I'd feel to bad. So you know, you can post out your wolfs last post. Just have her attack Toapa a few times, and then I will end it ...

Crow Hound

She could feel her fangs sink into the warm flesh like a knife into half melted butter as she found herself clamping down on the white female’s neck; just behind her head. Could feel the slick parting of muscle as she clamped down until the tendons in her thick blunt jaws bulged with the force of it, until she could feel the grating feeling of her canine teeth rubbing against the surface of the back of Desperado’s skull and the side of a vertebrae. Her mouth was full of white fur, causing a low grating gag to spill and muffle against the other wolves scruff as the monstrous black female inhaled on reflex through her throat. Crow huffed out a gusty snort through her flared nostrils, sucking in another lung full right after so she wouldn’t deprive her muscle’s of the much needed air. The bunched muscles of her neck twitched as the first droplets of succulent blood dribbled from between the white female’s thick fur to wet her pallet. Her single good eye widened slightly at the taste of another wolves blood.

OH LORD IT HAD BEEN SO VERY LONG!

That dilated orange eye rolled backwards slightly as she savored the feeling of thick liquid trickling down her trachea, tasted it and reveled in it and in the back of her mind a low swelling was beginning as her own sanity was shoved to the way side, a thousand giddy voices chimed through her head and she? She rejoiced! "Hehehe…" The sound was muffled, and garbled and the twitching of her thick black lips sent blood burbling over to trail down the side of her prey’s neck as well as wet her own charcoal fur. "Ehehehehehe! HAHAHAHA!" She laughed with maniacal glee at the taste, reveled in it while inside her head things shifted and the fog rolled in, clogging her head with the red, red color of blood.

We want more! A drunken sounding voice chimed somewhere to the left of her ear.

More, and more, and more! agreed a second to her right.

They were countless, innumerable as they built up a constant chant of more, more, MORE inside of her. The beast that she was started to go into overdrive, kicking in with the feel of prey at her mercy. Her world was tinted red as her infamous blood lust started settling in. Oh! How she suffered of it, and yet she welcomed it with teeth grinning madly.

Crow was suddenly wrenched from her revelry by the feeling of the white female jerking toward her flank, as though she could reach her haunches to inflict damage when Crow had such a hold on her. The feeling set wrath flooding through her body like lava rising from the earth’s core to burst the crust into a billion molten fragments. The growl that echoed maddeningly within her heavy chest swelled into a thunderous roar. The black beast bunched her haunches, the muscles looking hard and outlined beneath her dingy fur, and her front legs stiffened as she pressed them into the ground. All along her heavily muscled body she tensed, and strained, and her neck pulled back dragging the wolf clamped in the hold of her jaws with her. She shoved forward with her back claws, leaving heavy furrowing in the ground while she forced her upper body off the ground, tugging Desperado upward like she was some overgrown puppy, her own body barreling forward with her momentum as she jerked her head in a motion meant to send Desperado onto the ground on her back: So that Crow could get at all of her softest parts.

The beast’s fiery orange eye rolled wildly in its socket, and there she was for all she truly was: A mad beast!

Give us our feast, our daily allotment. We want to eat her! The voices tittered as one within her mind, and Crow gave an answering growl of approval.

Yesssss… It has been much to long since we last feasted on the flesh of our own kind…. So very, very, very, long. Her thoughts came out in a deranged whine. Oh how she wanted to throw the she wolf down, and rip open her stomach…. Just like a deer to get at the choicest bits.

The rest of the wolves? They were gone. It was only her and her prey now.

Raven felt a pain in her side, and growled slightly at it. Jaero's claws had done more damage than she expected. They had carved a decent wound in her side, but she pushed it aside as she felt Toapa come through the den at her side she pushed her pace up moving faster beside her as she came for the pup inside. Raven listened and nodded to the growl before launching her sleek frame forward for the first pup she saw. Her vigil on Rook as she darted around her to reach for the first pup in her already salving mouth. Raven was usually not one to kill a pup, but this was orders and she would follow them. Adrenaline fueling the dark female she hurried to take the next ones life. Raven knew this was also a risk though. She couldn't see as well outside the den and if she was caught while the pack left she'd be fighting three wolves at once. The thought made her snarl but she had taken on this same number before.

Aldolia came to mind with her scruffy beta male and the pack femme she brought to her old pack lands. And Raven had attacked her, Beta then too, she had hated the female with a passion, her curse on her pack was a devastation to it. The flash back only fueled her as she saw flashed of the pale female. Her cocky manner and stuck up proper self made her want to spit as she launched forward. Raven had a slight strand of insanity to her twisted mind. Developed through the past by constant battles, guarding. She had lost her only daughter and her two sons, and now the thought made her angry and hurt all at once. She launched forward now with more venom inside. Her ears were pinned flat against her large cranium, her lips curled back to reveal the long fangs that usually always showed. Her escape would have to be made soon.

She tasted flesh but she wasn't sure if she'd be able to drag it away. She'd carry the dead carcass out of the den and drop it for Jaero to see, while their Alpha female fled, she would turn with the others and run off, blood in her paw prints as it dripped form her fangs and the howling whimper of dead came when those teeth clasped skull neck and spine all in one and broke each with controlled inflicting pain on the poor little thing while the mother watched and listened in horror and the father would see his lovely pup mangled in one bite when she dropped it for him to see. Raven had watched her own two songs mangled in such a way when they were born, and now, she couldn't help but inflict the same torture she had gone through, their screams for her still haunted her and the anger of it all fueled her ruthless rage.

The Sokos

Hurricane Rose - Whether you want me or not... and you probably don't.
|:|XoxO.|:|

She chomped her teeth down, tearing into Toapa's leg. She tasted blood, happily. She scraped her claws into Toapa's side, willing her hate. She had devils on both shoulders, now. Her life flashed in her eyes, and paused at a picture of wide eyed Montania, her little baby cub, crawling playfully in the snow, black fur flashing a smile at Rose. Rose smiled back, watching her daughter. An image of Memory, who would never be forgotten, lead the trio with a smile on her face, pouncing on a leaf while watching Rose for praise. A picture of Forget-Me-Not, who was shy and sweet, the image of a minature Rose. Her three daughters.

And who was responsible for their death?! Errayn, though he had been forgiven, Tel, the evil one, and Toapa. Why Toapa? Because Toapa represented the evil that fueled distrust and hatred and melancholy actions. Toapa was death. So she ripped at her hind legs with a new fury, redended teeth washed in tears. Her eyes blurred, and she tore at Toapa, wishing for the pup to come crawling into her paws, feeling the need to return it to Rook. And she knew what Rook would feel. She knew that hatred which boiled up in you.

She remembered the blood leaking from sweet Memories wounds, the body of Tel lying there in the sunlit snow, turning the awful memory red with hatred and blood. She remembered the death that had swept them away from her, and she knew that she would join them today. So, when she whispered, she put her passion into it, and all she had ever felt, till it steadily rose in volume to a shout, echoing through the cave and spreading out into the pack, lodging itself in her heart. "Children, forgive me for not keeping you with me. But, wait for me! I'm coming! I'm coming to join you!"

Death waits near my bedside,
And I cannot sleep,
For I know I'll leave soon,
To count no more sheep.
.

Equinox
x|Errayn - Can you live with guilt?|x

Nobody could live with this guilt. The memories were to painful, he had to destroy them. But as he thought of how, halfheartedly nipping at Rose, another memory pushed into his mind. Tel, sneaking up to him, asking him softly with a claw to his throat, "Where is she? Tell me, now!" Errayn, in a burst of fueled anger, told him the location, then shooed him away. He knew not the grudge which this wolf fiercely held, knew not the danger that awaited her cubs... his cubs.
He no longer needed to do what Toapa said, no longer needed her permission. He would do what Rose would have done. And abrubptly, he turned toward the back of the cave, toward Rose's alphas. And though he knew he could never redeem any of his actions, this was repaying Rose for what he had done. Repaying her hatred.
And he trotted, slowly at first, toward her alphas, watching the male's stomach lift lightly, and fall. He knew that Rook would not welcome him, but he would stay, gaurding her and her family. He slowly circled them, watching for Raven. If she arrived near here, her smile would never see the light again. He muttered, "I'm here to help, I mean no harm." If they thought he was lying, they knew nothing of the guilt that deprived him any joy. Then he heard Rose's shout, and his heart broke. He howled, loud and clear. And into this howl twined all the memories, all the feelings, the joy, the hate, the smiles. And as it whistled to an ending, he sighed. He was forgiven.
He knew he could not lick the alpha's wounds, but he muttered something unclear and tried to think of all those medicinal herbs he had learned about. What stopped massive bleeding? What grew in shadowy, damp places? His mind went blank. He knew nothing of what to do, so he protected. That was what he was put here for.
He was forgiven.
0oC; Ok, Toapa.

She yelped in pain as her flesh was torn. Oh god it hurt so badly. She snarled and watched as the pack left. Crap she couldent be left alone. No she had her own mate and the pack to help. She growled and yelped angrily as she soon felt the female trying to throw her back. She wimpered softly and grunted in pain as she was thrown to the ground

Crap this wasent good. She snarled and started to move so her underside wasent exposed. She had hurt her own self by trying to get to the she wolfs hunches. God it didn't seem her rival had that much of a grip on scruff to tear. But when she had turned to get her hunches she had torn threw the flesh and muscle that where there and the vix still had a hold of her.

She growled and looked around. No no no she was all alone now. She looked around wildly and tried to think of how she was going to get out of the. She then sent a couple barks for someone to help.

{ yeah, yeah, okay I'm bad. I went out of turn, don't scold me, please. I just figured it would make it easier on Rook and Jaero so they wouldn't have to worry about me being in the way ... I just went ahead of Khaz, Rook, and Jaero. But seeing as Khaz left the site and all ... I guess I just passed two members ... Umm, yeah ... }
Anger bubbled inside of Toapa as the pain swept over her back leg. It was just a tear no doubt, but damn did it hurt. It would heal over time, with little worries of a limp to follow. In a few weeks no time, it would be back to normal, only a few scars to remind her of what went down this day. A deeper bite went into the scruff of the pup neck as Toapa growled once again as Hurricane Rose tore into her leg. This was not going to go down easily, especially with this pup in her mouth. Shaking the pup harshly, Toapa tried to get her to be silent. She was slowly moving away from Hurricane Rose, but the persistent female was gaining speed. Toapa shook the pup one last time, but the wails only grew louder. Gently, or what the alpha believed to be gentle, she sat the young pup down. Yeah, okay, so maybe it would be easily scooped up by another. But all Toapa could do, was hope the pup would just stay put. It let out wails, which only made Toapa snarl while yelling at the female pup, “Shut up!” It wasn’t like the pup could honestly understand her, but hey, she was angry. And what Toapa didn’t know … was something was wrong with this pup. And it was way more than just her missing her mommy.

Another angry growl was emitted as Toapa turned around to challenge Hurricane Rose. She stood over the pup, glaring evilly at Hurricane Rose. She was a good ways away from the cave now, but she could still see it slightly. And one thing was clear; Errayn was going over to the light side. She didn’t know what was being said, but she knew it wasn’t hateful words. His posture was to gentle, almost as if he were saying ‘I come in peace.’ A snarl was formed on Toapa’s face as she drew her lips back with a hint of envy. Rook always got whatever she damn well pleased. It wasn’t fair. Toapa was acting like a selfish child, but she didn’t care. She was getting revenge on the no good white female.

“How you can cast a spell on my members, I will never know. But you will die for this. I will kill you if it’s the last thing I ever do. If I am to lose a member today, I‘ll just kill his dear friend” As soon as the words exited her mouth, Hurricane Rose jumped at Toapa. The alpha wasn’t sure if the aim was for her leg, or for the pup, or if the attack was just out of spite of her words. But she quickly found her self engaged in a blood bathe. Either the females were growling too loudly, the pup was quiet, or it was gone, Toapa didn’t know. All she knew right now, was she had to fight for her life. She bit into Hurricane Rose, and Hurricane Rose bit into her. It was almost an equal match, until Toapa found a weak spot. She quickly had Hurricane Rose pinned down. It wasn’t an easy fight, but it would be an easy end. In a split second, Toapa thought about just slicing her throat and letting her slowly bleed to death. But that would be inhumane. Yes, even Toapa has some morals. It would not be a quick and painless death, but it would not be drawn out either. Almost like a wolf killing a pray, you just use what you have and it dies on its own. Biting into her throat, Toapa made sure to break the air way. Toapa didn’t stick around to see if the female would die or not, for that was none of her concern. Either the female would die quickly enough for a lack of oxygen and blood, or she would miraculously survive. And if that were to be the case, Hurricane Rose would be near useless. Ha-ha, that would be worse than death.

Rolling her eyes, Toapa turned around to find the pup. She had to blink a few times before she spotted the flea bag. Either the heat killed her, or Toapa had killed her. And it was easy to know which of the two it was. The shaking hadn’t been good for the newborns head. It was almost like putting an egg in a blender. The brain hit the skull with such force, that it basically set the baby on lock down. And then to top that, Toapa had torn the skin around her neck, only to make her loose blood. And then the drop to the ground hadn‘t helped much… Toapa was a poor mother indeed. But it was an accident, Toapa will promise. She wanted this pup, probably more than Rook. No that would be mistaken, for Toapa only wanted the pup to have an heir, Rook loved her pup with an undying love. And look at where she stood now. No heir and a bad reputation. Well this flat out sucked … Oh well, it was fun!

A snicker followed out of Toapa’s mouth as she turned around to leave. She howled out into the open, signaling that her wolves should leave. And if anyone was to lag behind, dire consequences would follow. And those were never pretty … Jogging, with a limp, off into the distance Toapa wondered why this turned out the way it had. Could it have been because it was the wrong thing to do? Or was it just because she hadn’t planned it correctly? Maybe she shouldn’t have come when the pups were just born. But then again, that was when the pups were the most venerable. It’s nature’s law, in fact. Maybe it was not a law, but just a flaw in the system. Shrugging her shoulders, Toapa decided she would think of the matter later. For now, she needed to clean her bruises, and rest. She was dog gone tired. That Jaero had put up one hell of a fight. And not to mention Hurricane Rose. Toapa was going to be sore for awhile …

Jaero heard the confusion, he heard the chaos that was outbreaking. He heard a thud as what he thought was Hurricane Rose, though he wasn't sure, fall beneath Toapa. He could tell that she had killed her. He had heard the words pass between them, but was unable to move. Letting out a whoosh of air he opened his eyes and stared at Rook, who was very upset, of course. He looked, two pups were missing. "Dammit." He huffed under his breath. Lying there, nearly motionless he spoke. "Rook... I'm sorry... I... tried..." With those few words, he soon fell back into oblivion, his mind racing as he passed out once more.

He hated himself for not assigning more guards, after all, she was giving birth, why didn't he? He didn't know anymore. All he knew was he wished this was some sort of bad dream, and that soon he'd wake up, and all would be well again. Sadly, it was real, and he was hurt, and two pups were taken from his home, and he'd never forgive himself. Ever. His paw twitched as he came back into focus, again he saw rook, and the two pups that were still there. He just laid there, transfixed, knowing Toapa could come back and kill him now and there, he hoped she wouldn't.

Just a reminder:

Equinox should be evacuated now. Thanks. The Sokos may remain, to pay their respects to the dead and to Rook and Jae, but Equinox should be out.
